With evidence that the players who spent many years playing in the NCAA (including the 2016 MVP – Stephen Curry and most recently Westbrook) entered the top 10 MVP elections for the last two years.

The NCAA further points out that only 16% of the players still competed in the NBA in the first year of college. Lebron James and Kevin Durant are the only two players still competing (only one year in college and going straight from high school) to ever win the MVP title for the season.

The NBA will benefit greatly if it agrees to increase the age of eligibility for the draft from 19 to 20

The NBA will benefit greatly if it agrees to increase the age of eligibility for the draft from 19 to 20. Young talents will develop steadily in their skills, thinking, and experience when competing in a medium-sized environment like the NCAA.

Getting into the NBA too early can be dangerous for a player in his mid-twenties

If they can overcome the overwhelming pressure and competitiveness, the young players will stretch or at least meet their expertise to play in the NBA.

In the worst-case scenario, the young players will fail to overcome the pressure and be eliminated from the world number one tournament. The NBA understands this and also expects the players to have at least two years playing on a lower system. Then the world’s number one tournament will have a chance to get more good players instead of just potential players.
